Yesterday, Juniorettes from around the country gathered for the 2008-5.wmv Junior Miss Pageant Contest in Louisville, Kentucky. The event was open to Juniorettes ages 13+ and provided an opportunity for them to earn scholarship money that goes towards their future University education. The pageant went off without a hitch with each contestant performing her talent on stage in front of judges and family before being crowned Junior Miss of America. The event was concluded with a dance party during which all contestants received flowers for being selected as Miss America-Louisville 2008-5. wmv delegates. The Junior Miss Pageant is open to Juniorettes ages 13+ who are interested in competing for scholarship money that goes towards their future University education. The pageant seeks to promote the life of a woman, how to be successful in life, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices for young girls across the country. The pageant has produced winners who have gone on to pursue careers in law (Kelli McCord), journalism (Rachel Maddow), and business (Gregory Meeks). Junior Miss Pageant Contest 2008-5.wmv is sponsored by the Olivia Foundation for Women, an organization created by Geraldine Ferraro. We are looking for contestants who are active in community service activities, participate in school/community mentoring programs, perform in musical theatre...not just beauty queens. We are looking for women who have leadership qualities and desire to use their talents to give back to the community. Contestants need not be young or beautiful. The way you look should not define your career goal. A contestant is required to be a junior in high school or a college freshman at the time of competition. In order to qualify as a contestant, they must have been accepted into an accredited college/university and have been awarded with a Financial Aid Scholarship from one of 25+ colleges located across the nation. Junior Miss Pageant Contest 2008-5.wmv contestants can be from any state in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. The Junior Miss of America is a finalist for Junior Miss America that will be held at the end of August in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The L'Oreal World of Beauty Girl's Choice Awards is a beauty pageant sponsored by L'Oréal Paris for young women ages 12 through 25 years old. The pageant was started in 1999 and has been held annually since then in various cities across the United States including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Phoenix, Indianapolis and Miami Beach. The pageant is open to contestants ages 18 and under and the winner of the Junior Miss of America will be crowned Miss L'Oréal World of Beauty 2008. The winner will receive $200,000 worth of scholarship points, a $25,000 scholarship from the L'Oréal Foundation, opportunity to perform in fashion shows across the world, and a head-to-toe wardrobe fit for a world fashion icon.
